Blepharoplasty, also known as plastic eye surgery, is one of the cheapest and easiest operations in cosmetic surgery. At the same time, this intervention can smooth out the most expressive signs of aging - swelling and puffiness in the eyelid area. Also, during an operation of no more than an hour and a half, fat tears are carefully removed, usually called a "bag" under the eyes, excess skin is removed, and the problem of puffiness under the eyes is eliminated. If before the operation the patient still looked at the world "under the eyebrows" under the swelling of the upper and lower eyelids, at the exit the eyes are open, young "inverted" and fresh.
Limited plastic eye surgery
And contrary to popular suspicion, the natural shape of the eyes does not change after blepharoplasty, for example, does not stretch artificially, as in Jocelyn Wildenstein. To achieve such a result, you must exceed the "limit" of plastic surgery for at least one person, and not more than a quarter of them. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
In general, plastic surgeons say that during the operation, the eyes literally stretch 1-2 mm - these changes, as a rule, are not felt by the patients themselves. However, if they are constantly drawn and increased in size by 1 cm, they will inevitably begin to reveal all the secrets that are so stubbornly hidden.
But at the same time, experts immediately emphasize that the effect of plastic eye surgery lasts only 5-7 years. For this reason, most of the patients here are people with visible age-related defects, which is a significant concern for people over the age of 35.
Another important point: blepharoplasty does not smooth the wrinkles in the corners of the eyes, it is also called "crow's feet". There are now a variety of injections for this purpose - from botulinum toxin to more natural vitamin cocktails based on hyaluronic acid. Today, it is the easiest, fastest and most painless way to get rid of fine wrinkles not only around the eyes, but also on the forehead, nasolabial folds and between the eyebrows.
Age-related changes are not the only indication for eye plastic surgery
However, age is a very relative criterion for blepharoplasty, as young people often turn to plastic surgeons in need of plastic eye surgery in this area against the background of signs of premature aging. In them, premature aging of this zone may be due to the following reasons:
- genetic predisposition to rapid aging or the formation of "bags" under the eyes;
- liver and kidney disease;
- "Unhealthy" lifestyle: eating too much salt, alcohol, smoking;
- Harmful cosmetic habits such as stretching of the skin when applying the cream, the habit of not washing makeup, lack of proper cosmetic care.
If the young patient no longer needs to have the skin removed, the surgeon will prefer modern plastic surgery to the eye - transconjunctival blepharoplasty. This technique is not the most traumatic and does not even require stitches. Only in this way, you can remove only oily deposits (bags under the eyes) on the upper and lower eyelids without removing other tissues.
To perform the manipulations, the plastic surgeon bends the eyelid, performs a millimeter puncture on the inside called the conjunctiva, and removes the fat tears that cause bags under the eyes. The puncture in the mucous membrane is compressed shortly after surgery without any additional intervention, because the tissues here are regenerated especially quickly. Usually after such an operation, the patient is sent for discharge 1-1, 5 hours after the intervention.
Tips for plastic surgery for the eyes
- fatty tears on the upper and / or lower eyelid;
- "Bruises" under the eyes;
- swelling in the periorbital region;
- ptosis of the upper eyelid;
- wrinkles around the eyes and excess skin;
- asymmetry of the eyes (shape and cross-section);
- a layer on the upper eyelid (typical for Asian-looking people)
Eye plastic surgery methods
There are two main methods for blepharoplasty in modern plastic surgery:
- laser- incisions are made with a laser beam;
- Surgery- The "entrance" is opened with a scalpel.
Types of plastic surgery for eye correction
All plastic surgery on the eyes does not take more than an hour and a half. These are performed either under general anesthesia (preferable for circular blepharoplasty) or under local anesthesia based on a solution of adrenaline and 1-2 lidocaine. Two hours after surgery, the patient should be in the clinic to rule out complications.
After eye plastic surgery, the sutures are removed within 3-4 days - in the case of classic blepharoplasty, if the operation is performed in a transconjunctival manner, then it is not superimposed.
Bruising and some swelling around the eyes may persist for 1-2 weeks after blepharoplasty. In general, this is a normal phenomenon - just wait.
Plastic surgery of the upper eyelid
Eye correction is planned in the upper eyelid area. As a result, "heavy" bumps are removed, excess skin is removed. For manipulations, the plastic surgeon makes an incision in the natural crease area in the upper eyelid area, then removes the excess skin flap and removes them by opening access to the adipose tissue. The cut is made here with internal seams and special thin threads. As a result, within 1-2 months, the wound becomes completely invisible, even to the patient himself.
Plastic surgery of the lower eyelid and removal of under-eye cavities and bags
With blepharoplasty on the lower eyelid, an incision is made 1-2 millimeters below the lash line. During the operation, the surgeon first cuts off part of the skin, then opens the tissue of the fat sacs with fat tears. Sometimes low blepharoplasty, on the other hand, does not eliminate fat deposits, but adds a little by evenly distributing it to the "low" zone.
After that, as in the first case, internal sutures are applied, which disappear completely and are not completely visible after about 1-2 months.
Circular blepharoplasty
This is the simultaneous straightening of the lower and upper eyelids.
Plastic surgery for eye incisions
This plastic eye surgery technique is most in demand among Asian-looking people. The intervention, also known as cantoplasty, allows you to double the layer of the upper eyelid, which is typical for the Asian population, as we do.
During plastic surgery to remove the eye, the epicanthus (a characteristic elongation of the skin layer in the inner corner of the eye) is removed by the formation of a double crescent-shaped layer. Excess oil deposits around the eyes are also removed.
However, the Asian look is not the only indication for plastic eye surgery, that is, to correct the upper eyelid. With such an intervention, you can correct the shape of the eyes, cut them, and squeeze the lowered outer corners. Cantoplasty is less traumatic than other types of blepharoplasty.
Recovery period after plastic eye surgery
On average, the recovery period takes 2 to 6 weeks. People who do not smoke and strictly follow all the recommendations of the surgeon after the operation can rely on a minimum of time:
- The patient should wear colored glasses for 7-10 days;
- you should stop wearing contact lenses in favor of glasses for about 10-14 days;
- Avoid physical force, sudden movements, bending, it can cause tearing of the seams;
- you should refrain from cosmetic procedures for at least a month;
- makeup is allowed only 10 days after surgery.
Contraindications for eye plastic surgery
- cardiovascular diseases;
- colds and infectious diseases;
- oncology;
- diabetes;
- respiratory failure;
- liver and kidney disease;
- acute chronic diseases;
- thyroid disease;
- mental disorders;
- blood clotting disorders;
- pregnancy and lactation
The following tests are performed to determine the factors that prevent plastic surgery on the eyes:
- general blood test;
- blood for coagulogram;
- blood chemistry;
- ECG conclusion based on ECG;
- endocrinologist's report;
- abdominal ultrasound;
- Blood test for HIV;
- visit a psychologist.
The cost of plastic eye surgery
In recent years, the cost of plastic surgery has dropped significantly. This is mainly due to the technology in this area, but not in any way due to the decline in the quality of services provided. In the past, plastic surgeons operated only with a scalpel and according to outdated techniques, making large and deep incisions that left fairly noticeable scars. Today, instead of these techniques, there are more affordable high-tech techniques that allow you to perform any surgical intervention quickly and minimally invasively. Therefore, the cost of plastic surgery has become more affordable for ordinary people.
